1966 FORD MUSTANG

Pulled out of a field. Took over 2 years to get on the road. First trip was to Turkey Rod Run 2002, 200 miles. Graphic on the hood read " It ain't done but its here". Over the next few years, I added the custom hood feature, high back bucket seats out of a 1994 Camero, and sequential taillights. I fabricated the rear fender tips out of sheet metal and welded them on, over 20 years later they still look great. I fabricated the rain gutters, they were too rusted to repair. I did most of the rebuild except for the engine and tranny. I even painted it in my garage. It made a trip from West Palm Beach to Maine, then on to the monthly car show at Hemmings. On to Pittsburgh, Pa, then to Indianapolis Motor Speedway. On to Chicago, hopped on Route 66 and headed west. Spent 4th of July in a hotel watching the fireworks over the Gateway Arch, that was the only reservation we had. From there on it was ride down 66 stopping here and there. My best friend and I had a ball. Made it to Oklahoma city and we decided it was too hot 110 to 115 every day and the A/C in the Mustang was nonexistent over 100*. Drove it back to Atlanta to end our trip. That was 2012. In September 2025 I took my wife out west to finish 66. Started in Tulsa and drove all the way to Santa Monica. It only took 13 1/2 years to complete the trip. I highly recommend the trip, plan on 3 weeks or so to stop and enjoy all there is while it's still there. And say hi to Dan for me, he runs the Route 66 both on the pier. Roger
